Honoring a Remarkable Mentor

March 04, 2025

As we celebrate National Women’s Month, I find myself reflecting on the incredible women who have shaped my life and career. This month is a time to honor those who have made meaningful impacts, not just on individuals like me, but on the world around them. One such extraordinary woman is Angie Vlach, a mentor whose influence has been nothing short of transformative.

Angie embodies what it means to be a true leader and role model. Her fortitude in the face of adversity, her sharp business acumen, and her extraordinary intelligence have always inspired me. She’s the kind of person who seems unshakable, "tough as nails" as they say, but it’s her unwavering encouragement and support that truly sets her apart.

When I first started in this industry, the road ahead seemed daunting, especially for someone still finding their footing in a complex field. Balancing the demands of building a career while raising two children added another layer of complexity to an already challenging journey. Angie had this incredible way of making me feel seen, valued, and capable, even when I felt stretched thin by competing responsibilities. Whether it was through a word of advice, a confidence-boosting pep talk, or simply her presence in the room, Angie made challenges seem surmountable.

As our careers progressed, life took us in different directions. I had the privilege of watching from afar as Angie rose to the highest levels of success, navigating her path with the same intelligence, resilience, and grace that make her so inspiring. Yet, somehow, our journeys always seemed to bring us back together at just the right moments, moments when her insight, encouragement, and mentorship were exactly what I needed. That connection, no matter the distance, has been one of the most meaningful constants in my professional life.

One of the qualities I admire most is her balance of strength and approachability. Angie never shies away from hard truths or tough decisions. Yet, she never lets that strength overshadow her genuine care for others. Time and again, I’ve seen her go out of her way to lift those around her, colleagues, clients, and friends alike. She’s a mentor not just in the professional sense but in life itself.

I wouldn’t be the financial advisor I am today without Angie’s guidance. She’s taught me the importance of resilience, of embracing both success and failure as learning experiences, and of showing up for those who rely on you. She’s also shown me what it means to lead with both grace and grit, an invaluable lesson that I carry into my own interactions with clients and colleagues.

During National Women’s Month, it feels especially fitting to celebrate Angie’s legacy. Her mentorship has not only impacted my career but has also inspired me to pay it forward, to support, encourage, and empower other women in the way that she has always done so effortlessly. Women like Angie remind us of the power of lifting each other up and of the profound impact one person can have on so many lives.

To Angie, thank you for being a guiding light and inspiration. Your mentorship has been one of the most impactful gifts of my career. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from you, it’s that no amount of gratitude can truly encapsulate the influence you’ve had on those lucky enough to work alongside you.

Here’s to celebrating you, Angie, and to celebrating all the women who continue to break barriers, lead with purpose, and make the world a better place.
